Effects of Changing Virgin Binder Grade and Content on RAP Mixture Properties

Laboratory tests and an economic analysis were conducted on the effect of increasing the volume or adjusting thee grade of virgin binder in reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) mixtures. The mixtures, 25% and 50% RAP binder blends, were tested for durability, cracking susceptibility, and rutting. Laboratory tests included: linear amplitude sweep, energy ratio testing, overlay tester, and asphalt pavement analyzer. An economic analysis looked at assumptions and material cost analysis.
