Reducing cognitive dissonance in health care: Design of a new Positive psychology intervention tool to regulate professional stress among nurses

Cognition is the set of mental processes relating to the management of knowledge and social experiences. The overarching purpose of this paper is to validate the effect of paradoxical thinking strengths intervention (PTSI) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) on professional stress among nurses. Contrary to our expectation, the results show an insignificant effect of PTSI on professional stress among nurses. The assumption of ACT on professional stress among nurses is significant. The implications and recommendations of the study are discussed.
