The design of a multivariable control system for a ship boiler

A multivariable control system is designed for a large scale ship boiler. The design is based on concepts of modern control theory and extensive use of all-digital real-time simulation. This paper describes in particular how it is possible to verify the multivariable control system without having the real process operating.
