QUALITY PERFORMANCE IN A DESIGN-BUILD MEGA-PROJECT

SUMMARY This paper outlines several significant lessons drawn from quality management of a major highway project from the initial proposal through three seasons of construction. The authors describe solutions and innovations in integrated quality management and assessment, including a web-based quality management tool developed for the project. Measurement and reporting of quality performance are used to drive an effective, participative quality improvement process with tangible benefits for both the Developer and the Owner.
