Dos and don'ts for electronic journal management: some advice to publishers

Librarians, publishers, aggregators, and subscription agents find themselves in new roles as electronic journals increase in importance. Librarians are redefining their role as electronic journal administrators in the dissemination of scholarly communication. As part of a recent survey of electronic journal administrators, we elicited suggestions to ease the frustrations faced in the management of electronic journals. This article highlights some dos and don'ts that librarians would like to see the publishing community consider, and proposes realistic solutions for some of the management problems encountered.
