Realizing the Gray-scale Display in OLED Using FPGA

The display principles of OLED firstly,and analyses the difficulties of realizing gray scale on OLED panel using voltage model were introduced.After comparing the methods in existence to realize gray scale on OLED panel we put forward a method based on sub frame technique.In this way a new control circuit to realize gray scale by sub frame technique has been designed,which is achieved by FPGA device.FPGA is an efficient and flexible device for designing all kinds of digital circuit.The scheme of FPGA device to realizing the stroage control circuit and display control circuit are designed by using Xilinx foundation series software.Finally,the simulation results for 320×240 and 640×480 matrixes to achieve 16 grade of gray scale are shown in the paper.The emulational results indicate that the realization of the gray scale with 16 grade gray scale on OLED panel can be obtained by FPGA device easily.The sub frame technique is suitable for both of PM or AM OLED matrix display.
