Windows 10 Security: Concepts and Challenges

This book is designed to be used to introduce cyber security for users and administrators of Microsoft Windows 10. It is intended for an audience that has no background knowledge in security, but where readers have already taken some courses in core areas that are impacted by security, such as networking, databases, computer systems and programming. The book is not designed to be an introduction to hacking systems, and much of the discussion of technology is, purposely kept general, so that students can focus on the core concepts which do not change over time, rather than just today's technology. The book does not cover all possible areas of security, and many are not covered in any detail. The reader must use the book as a launching pad for further, self-guided discovery. Indeed, since the book covers the essential security concepts related to Windows 10 systems, the mapping of concepts to specific applications or contexts in Windows 10 is left as an intellectual challenge for the reader.
