THE EFFECT OF ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE STEMMING FROM NATIONAL CULTURE ON TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT VALUES, CASE STUDY: IRANIAN SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES (SME'S)

New technologies developed in the twentieth century broke the natural boundaries of regions and thus made cross-regions commerce so frequent. This study investigates the impact of national culture by the Hofstede dimension on total quality management (TQM) in Iranian Small and Medium Enterprises (SME’s). This research employs two of Hofstede’s (1983) national culture dimensions and the six values of TQM. The sample was collected from 150 managerial personnel of Iranian small and medium enterprises (SME’s) in 30 companies. The survey result is analysis by regressing cultural dimensions on TQM values. Our results suggest that power distance is the most influential cultural element and impacts all six TQM values and masculinity has no significant affect to TQM values except emphasis on TQM oriented training.
