Design for Remanufacturing

Design for remanufacturing (DfR{eman}) can be a viable opportunity to maximise the utility of products and value to businesses and consumers while also maximising the amount of waste that can be diverted from landfills. Products that incorporate DfR{eman} principles from their conception can display greater economic, environmental and social benefits to manufacturers and society than products that incorporate remanufacturing strategies as an afterthought to product design. This paper summarises the opportunities DfR{eman} can offer product designers and manufacturers as a tool to enhance a product's sustainability.
