Proposed considerations of ASU and CPU for a 100MWe Oxy-coal power plant

Oxy-firing coal combustion is one of the promising approaches to CO₂ capture. According to the project for conceptual designs of proposed 100MWe oxy-coal power plant in Korea, ASU and CPU processes should be designed and optimized in view of the overall plant. As possible consideration of ASU, double column type (95% GO₂ production, having 2 MAC) was proposed among four cases for ASU process design. So far, specific proposal of CPU process design was not determined yet. However, possible design was proposed as methods to recover CO₂ in gaseous or liquid form. This paper presents proposed considerations of the ASU and CPU for the 100MWe oxy-coal power plant. Since it is important to consider economic feasibility and stability in terms of operating them, it is discussed for the plant operation and for the possible considerations on the engineering designs.
