Synergetics-Towards a New Discipline

The interests of H. Frohlich have been extremely widespread, as this book demonstrates once more. One of the areas to which he has devoted his particular interest in recent years is biology: he has clearly pointed out that in biology it is certainly not sufficient merely to understand elementary processes or the structure of molecules but that it is the cooperation between individuals which is decisive in bringing about qualitatively novel effects. In our contribution we want to present some thoughts which are, at least in part, closely related to those of Frohlich.
