The Design of Grossversuch IV, a Randomized Hail Suppression Experiment in Switzerland

Abstract A randomized hail suppression experiment (Grossversuch IV) using the Soviet rocket technique is described and a brief outline of the statistical design is given. Using the large number of experiments that were conducted in the Soviet Union a confirmatory analysis will be made as well as further exploratory studies on different parameters connected with hail. The problems connected with the measurements of hail by radar and hailpads are also discussed.
