QFD-Based Approach for Determining QoS Improvement Solutions of Web Service

QoS is an important aspect of web services. How to design web services is a challenge for service providers, to meet customers' QoS requirements and make web services more competitive than other functional similar services. This paper proposes an approach based on QFD (Quality Function Deployment) as one of the highly effective quality methodologies to transfer web services' QoS requirements into design attributes of web services. We define TCI (Technical Competitive Index) to measure technical competitive capacity of web services in terms of QoS. GA (Genetic Algorithm) searches optimal solutions of target values of web service design attributes in order to make technical performance higher than other competitive service products within the lowest improvement efforts such as on cost. As the output of QFD, the order of priority and targets of web service design attributes can help service providers make decisions for either improving existing web service products or developing new service products.
