The Changing Face of

Over the past 50 years, the research agenda of clinical departments in teaching hospitals has broadened from one concerned primarily with physiologic stud - ies to one that includes biochemistry, molecular biology, the quantitative analytic sci - ences, anthropology, and other social sciences. This memoir presents examples of such changes and provides examples of how the author's involvement has been promoted not only by his mentors, but also by those whom he has mentored.
