A method of power system out-of step separation based on network energy

Proper splitting strategies can appease the system swing to avoid breakdown. In this paper, several problems were discussed concerning system splits based on system energy, for example, identification of the fracture surface of the out-of step center, selection of splitting interface, determination of splitting time, etc. The asynchronous oscillating branch can be determined based on the branch energy, after which the out-of-step interface can be captured;to make the subsystems after splitting more apt to recover stability, the splitting interface was researched based on the relationship of dynamic energy and potential energy;the system splitting time was analyzed according to the accumulating kinetic energy of subsystems after splitting. The determination of splitting interface and splitting time does not need generators grouping information, and is not restricted by network structure and running mode;besides,it is beneficial to stability of subsystems after splitting. The method was tested by the IEEE-68 node system.
