Terrain evaluation—II

Abstract Current research activities on the establishment of laws of natural terrain responses for the assessment of mobility and operability of vehicles and machines are reported herein. The papers presented at Session 1 of the Tenth International ISTVS Conference concerning “Terrain Evaluation” are discussed in groups based upon approaches employed to characterize terrain responses.
