The invention discloses a novel filler tower capable of improving utilization efficiency of gas and belongs to the field of wastewater treatment equipment. The novel filler tower comprises a tower body, a water distributing filter head, a gas aeration head, a filler layer and a fishbone-like water collector. During treatment of wastewater, the wastewater enters the tower body via a water inlet, water is distributed by virtue of the water distributing filter head at the bottom of the tower body, gas enters via a gas inlet, aeration is carried out by virtue of an aeration head arranged at the bottom, and a gas-water mixed high-efficiency reaction zone is formed; and after the wastewater and the gas fully react at the filler layer of the tower body, effluent is collected by virtue of the fishbone-like water collector at the top of the tower body, residual gas contained in the treated wastewater is discharged out via an air outlet at the tail of the water collector, and the treated wastewater is discharged out via a water outlet.
