This paper reports on a set of experiments using a new highly mobile rover prototype that was tested under lunar-like operational conditions (i.e., time-delay and reduced communications bandwidth) in the lava fields of the Mojave desert near Amboy, CA. In addition to describing the mobility system we will describe some results from the field test and observations about the link between mobility confidence and operational speed.
