Stability enhancement of wind farm connected power system using superconducting magnetic energy storage unit

This paper deals with the enhancement of the transient stability of the power system integrated with Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) based wind farms connected with Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage (SMES) unit. The fluctuation in the wind power injection to the system due to variability in wind speed can also be reduced by the introduction of the SMES unit. The study is carried out in SMIB system and WSCC 3-machine 9-bus system in PSCAD/EMTDC platform.
