Technical requirements for GOC monitoring in horizontal wells by direct-arrival travel-time inversion

This paper describes a theoretical study of the technical requirements of gas/oil contact (GOC) monitoring in horizontal wells. The goal is to detect changes in the velocity field related to the GOC in a producing reservoir. Examples are based on synthetic travel-time data. The necessary accuracy of location of the source is determined so that a difference in the observed travel time can give information about the GOC displacement.
