A hybrid fuzzy control system for a hot strip mill has been developed. The theoretical model is set up after error correction by applying fuzzy rules to the theoretical model errors and to the actual rolling load when a sheet bar is grasped by the upstream stands of the finishing mill. Through this system the accuracy can be improved by 10% compared to the conventional control, where the theoretical model alone is applied. It is believed this approach is applicable to a control method that can cope with increasingly diversified production styles.<<ETX>>
