Using quality and accuracy ratings to quantify the value added of a dictionary skills training course

As a result of previous research into dictionary use, the researcher has created a short course in dictionary skills for mature student learners of languages. The present research is designed to measure the effectiveness of the training by assessing the value it adds to students' written work. In order to achieve this, a test instrument was devised which would measure the Accuracy and Quality of Language as objectively as possible and which would enable two drafts on the same topic from each individual student to be compared and the differences to be quantified in a way that would also allow comparison between different students.
