BLASTFURNACE SLAG AS COARSE AGGREGATE FOR CONCRETE STORED IN SULPHATE SOLUTIONS FOR 22 YEARS

Concretes made with six blasrfurnace slags as coarse aggregate, with ordinary Portlandcement or sulphate resisting Portland cement, have been tested for strength after storage in aggressive sulphate solutions for 22 years. The results show that concretes made with blastfurnace slag aggregate which complies with BS 1047 performed as well as equivalent gravel aggregate concretes in aggressive sulphate environments.
