Complex permittivity of concrete in the frequency range 0.8 to 12 GHz

The complex permittivity of a concrete tile is determined in the frequency range 0.8 to 12 GHz. The measurement is made as a transmission measurement with Vivaldi type antenna pair. The presented measurement method allows the defining of the complex permittivity of any kind of concrete, even when the material composition is not known. The permittivity is derived from measured transmission coefficients. The data undergoes signal processing in Matlab by which the multiple reflections inside the sample are removed. Thereafter, the data contain only the reflection caused by the air-concrete interface and the permittivity can be calculated.
