Flex rate transmission and challenges for long haul transmission

We review flexible bitrate transponder options combining variable QAM formats and a variable baudrate. We show that high spectral efficiency and high baudrate systems suffer from limited converter ENOB, furthermore high baudrate systems suffer from nonlinear distortions.
