A CONCEPT FOR PREVENTING REPEATED WELD REPAIRS OF BRIDGE STRUCTURES. EXTENDING THE LIFE OF BRIDGES--SYMPOSIUM, LAKE BUENA VISTA, FLORIDA, DECEMBER 5, 1989

Recent studies and publications have discussed methods of improving fatigue life in welded structures. The author investigates the mechanism for fatigue failures in weldments as well as the data supporting various post-weld treatments. The paper deals in depth with the control of these processes and how to achieve consistent improvements in post-weld treatments.
