Adjustable-speech AC drives

The progress of semiconductor technology in power electronics as well as microelectronics has made it possible to develop controllable AC drives without moving contacts, that are more powerful, of more compact design, improved efficiency and of superior dynamic performance. The present situation and likely future developments are reviewed. Electromagnetic torque generation, adjustable-speed DC drives, and adjustable AC drives are discussed. The control of AC machines is considered. Examples of industrial drives are examined. The digital control of future drive systems is discussed. >
