Development of a signal simulator for the pulsed laser scan-imaging radar

With the development of laser radar technique, the laser radar signal simulator is needed urgently. Firstly, the characterized features of the signal of the imaging laser radar are analyzed.Secondly, various simulating methods are compared, the digital method is adopted and an imaging laser radar signal simulator is designed. Its overall design consists mainly of digital block and analog block. In the digital part,a simulating target is established with the help of software, and noise in real time is added to the simulating target on the basis of the SNR required according to the principle of the statistic noise model made by the MIT laboratory. Then, after the range image and intensity image have produced,in real-time they are changed into digital signals and sent to the analog block. In the analog part, the data of the range image and intensity image are transformed into a timing serial of the coherent pulsed laser scan-imaging radar signal in real time. Finally, the developed signal simulator has experimented on a pulsed laser scan-imaging radar and the experimental results showed successfully the feasibility of the designed the signal simulator.
