Mn-Zn ferrites of composition, Mn/sub 0.57/Zn/sub 0.35/Fe/sub 2.08/O/sub 4/, have been prepared using citrate-gel and conventional mixed oxide processing routes. The magnetic properties and microstructures of these two ferrites were examined. Total power losses were measured and analyzed as a function of frequency, and separated into hysteresis and eddy current losses. It is clear that both the hysteresis loss and eddy current loss have been significantly reduced using citrate gel processing. The relationships between the losses and microstructure in these ferrites are discussed.
