PRIMARY AMYLOIDOSIS OF THE GASSERIAN GANGLION

Few examples of amyloidotic lesions of the nervous system can be found in the vast literature on the subject of amyloidosis. Amyloidotic substances have been observed several times in the peripheral nerves, but much less frequently in the central nervous system. In most cases amyloidosis is found in diffused forms; in the literature we have found only one case of isolated amyloidotic degeneration of nerve structures. This is the case of an amyloid tumour of the Gasserian ganglion dcscribed by Duly, Love & Dockerty (1957). A similar case has recently been observed in this Institute.
