Doppler Radar Architecture for Vital Signal Detection

The physiological signs such as respiration rate and cardiac beats are significant indexes of human health status and the detection of these signals is essential in various applications. However, the most existing measurement techniques require a physical contact with patient's skin, which can be impossible in several cases like the monitoring of burn persons. To solve this issue, we propose a noncontact way to measure the human instantaneous vital signs by using a Doppler radar system. The obtained results show that the frequency of breathing and the beats of heart are well detected that validates our radar architecture.
