An expert system for troubleshooting tractor hydraulic systems

Abstract An expert system was developed based on a knowledge domain provided in the hydraulic diagnosis manual for the John Deere 50 Series tractors. Texas Instrument's PCplus version 2.0 was used on an IBM/AT. PCplus provided good user I/O, but did not allow easy program control of the firing order of rules. Procedural control of rules is required to follow the John Deere diagnosis manual. A standard format for representing domain and procedural knowledge is presented.
