First Japanese Conference on Combinatorial Chemistry and High Throughput Screening

The six articles in this issue of Molecular Diversity highlight presentations given at the First Japanese Conference on Combinatorial Chemistry and High Throughput Screening. The conference, which took place in Osaka on November 7-9, 1996, was sponsored by Cambridge Healthtech Institute (CHI) and Houghten Pharmaceuticals Inc., and attracted 310 attendees, including 24 speakers from the United States, 2 from Europe and 2 from Japan. The conference provided an excellent first opportunity for Japanese academic and industrial scientists to be exposed to, and share their findings in, this explosively growing field.
