Action Recognition andUnderstanding using MotorPrimitives

We investigate modeling andrecognition ofarm manipulation actions ofdifferent levels ofcomplexity. Tomodel theprocess, we areusinga combination ofdiscriminative support vector machines andgenerative hidden Markovmod- els. Theexperimental evaluation, performed with10people, investigates bothdefinition andstructure ofprimitive motions aswellasthevalidity ofthemodeling approach taken.
