Ureteric reflux and renal damage.

The management of primary ureteric reflux in children in some centres in the United Kingdom is more radical than the management usually employed in Australia. In a proportion of cases of this condition at the Princess Margaret Hospital over a period of five years, conservative treatment has been associated with progressive renal damage, as evidenced by repeated radiological assessment. The results of a conservative policy do not appear entirely satisfactory, and the place of early surgery may warrant serious consideration.
