Route Choice Variability: A Case Study

Bus stop models are at the core of every frequency-based transit assignment models. They answer the question of how passengers make their decisions when faced with competing lines at a transit stop. Many have been developed, corresponding to different assumptions about the type of service or the information that is available. This article aims at assessing some bus stop models via the thorough study of a single case from the Paris region. Observed train departure times allow to compute the outputs of bus stop models. The results are then compared to real-life data from a field survey and smart card validations.
