A Novel Routine Outage Maintenance Strategy for a Generating Unit

A novel routine outage maintenance strategy is proposed. The optimization model for routine outage maintenance is established, minimizing the objectives of the cost of maintenance, the loss of gain from power selling, and the loss of overreparation. The practicality of the new strategy is improved, since the data used in the mathematical model is supported by condition-based maintenance technology. The new strategy is evaluated by utilizing the probabilistic production simulation technique, with a comparison made with the time-based maintenance (TBM) strategy. Test results show that, in terms of both the economic index and reliability index, the new strategy is superior to the TBM strategy.
