Portable device for guiding user`s breathing and method of operating the device

A breathing inductive portable terminal and a breathing inductive method of the portable terminal are provided to calculate the current breathing information of a user from a breathing waveform in accordance with the user's exhaling sounds, and to induce the user to normally breath if the current breathing information is different from the user's normal breathing information so that the user can measure and compensate a self breathing state. A memory unit(110) records normal breathing information of a predetermined user. A microphone unit(160) receives exhaling sounds generated when the user exhales. A breathing waveform measurer(120) measures the current breathing waveform of the user from the user's exhaling sounds. A breathing information generator(130) generates the current breathing information of the user from the current breathing waveform. A breathing inducer(140) compares the current breathing information with the normal breathing information, and displays the normal breathing information through a predetermined display unit(170) or a sound output unit(180), if the current breathing information is different from the normal breathing information.
