Tectonostratigraphic position of the rocks in the western extreme of the Major Bergen Arc (Fanafjell Nappe), West Norway

Rocks of the 'Fanafjell Nappe' (Sturt & Thon 1978) in the Bergen Arcs have been studied. The Krossnes Granite, which dominates the area, intrudes rocks of the Major Bergen Are, and is separated from the Anorthosite Complex by a broad zone of mylonites. The Krossnes Granite is thus interpreted as one of several syn-tectonic granitoids within the Scandinavian Caledonides, and not as a separate nappe.
