Magnetic and electrical properties of Gd2In

Measurements of the magnetisation, resistivity and magnetoresistivity have been made on polycrystalline Gd2In. The compound orders as a metamagnet below 99.5K but shows ferromagnetic order between 99.5 and 187K. The electrical resistivity reflects both transitions. In the case of the metamagnetic phase it provides indirect evidence for superzones and a spiral magnetic structure.
