THE STATE OF AUTOMOTIVE ELECTRONICS IN THE YEAR 2000: A PERSPECTIVE OF THE NORTH AMERICAN MARKETPLACE

Developing automotive electronics technology is increasingly changing the character of motor vehicles in a number of ways. From engine and emissions control to suspension levelling and vehicle control the developing electronics systems are having an increasingly important impact on vehicle design. The paper attempts to review a number of such developments and the manner in which they are likely to affect the role of the vehicle in the USA to the year 2000.
