A Wideband Dual-Polarized Dipole Antenna for 5G Mobile Communication

Aiming at the application of 5G mobile communication, this paper presents a wideband dual-polarized dipole antenna. The main structure of the antenna consists of two pairs of crossed-loop dipoles, and the impedance bandwidth and isolation can be effectively improved by loading some impedance matching cylinders on the terminal of the printed dipole and cutting grooves on the radiation arms. Furthermore, by introducing a coupling layer and some impedance matching cylinders, the bandwidth enhancement is achieved. Meanwhile, the miniaturization of the antenna can be also effectively realized. The antenna adopts the form of coupling feed. The simulation result shows that the bandwidth-enhanced antenna has a wide bandwidth of 72% with S11<-10 dB (from 1.3 to 2.8GHz) and also achieves a high isolation (greater than 30dB) within the bandwidth. In addition, the half-power beamwidth of the antenna is 73±5° at horizontal plane and a stable gain of 7.9±0.5 dBi is also achieved over the working frequency band.
