Objective To examine the effect of rhodiola polysaccharide on peripheral blood cells and cell cycle of BMCs in myelosuppressed anemia mice, and to explore its mechanism in hematopoietic regulation. Methods The effect of rhodiola polysaccharide on peripheral blood cells,BMCs,and cell cycle of BMCs in myelosuppressed anemia mice was detected by automatic blood cell analysator, white blood count and flow cytometry(FCM) respectively. Results It was found that medium-and high-dose rhodiola polysaccharide obviously elevated white blood cells、red blood cells、hemoglobin and BMCs,but had not effect on blood platelet.High-dose rhodiola polysaccharide significantly promoted the transition of BMCs from G_(0)/G_(1) to S phase and S to G_(2)/M phase, and that both medium-and high-dose rhodiola polysaccharide obviously elevated the proliferation index. Conclusion These data suggest that rhodiola polysaccharide may promote the recovery of hematopoietic function of the myelosuppressed anemia in mice by ending off G_(0)/G_(1)-phase arrest, accelerating G_(0)/G_(1)-S phase and S-G_(2)/M phase transition, promoting the proliferation of bone marrow hemopoietic cells.
