Smart home with ZigBee hardware simulation and performance evaluation

The concept of smart home system has rapidly gained attention because of the development of wireless sensor network technology. This paper investigates ZigBee wireless sensor network technology, and takes advantage of its feasibility: low-power-consumption, low-cost and high stability in order to bring about an easy generalized, convenience and energy-saving home system. This system builds ZigBee wireless sensor network as home network, which is achieved on CC2530 wireless RF module, uses PC as control center and home gateway, and produces an mobile application on Android platform for realizing remote control. The paper introduces the system design principle and key hardware and software development in detail, and presents the temperature map according to the data collected from end devices. The result of present work indicates that ZigBee technology fits for developing smart home system with practical value.
