Spectral Investigation of SPT MAG Insulator Erosion

The opportunity of using the optical spectroscopy for the determination of the rate of the entrainment of the insulators material of the source of SPT type, operating on Xe, is investigated. The estimation of the total mass flux of the insulator, carried away from the exit of the source MAG-A2, has been obtained. Therewith with the increase of the discharge voltage, starting from approximately Ud=300V, the decrease of the channel erosion rate is observed.
