Adaptive side-band cancellation of electromagnetic interference in electric vehicles

Circuits with high power transistors emit various types of undesired electromagnetic waves, which cause harmful influence on electric equipment including receivers of wireless broadcasting or wireless communications in electric vehicles. This paper proposes a novel technique, named as "side-band canceller" to improve transmission performance of wireless broadcasting. The proposed canceller achieves such superior performance without additional hardware such as additional antennas. The proposed side-band canceller mitigates the harmful influence on the wireless signals by using the signal in the band where no wireless signal exists. It is verified by computer simulation that the proposed side-band canceller improves signal to interference power ratio (SIR) of the output signal in proportion to the number of samples. If 106 samples are provided to the canceller, the SIR of the output signal is improved to 60dB in spite of the SIR of the received signal.
