DISPLAYED INFORMATION LEGIBILITY OF IN-VEHICLE SYSTEMS : FOCUS ON ELDERLY DRIVERS VISUAL SPECIFICITIES

This study focuses on legibility specifications of in-vehicle display systems. Various legibility conditions are tested in real situations for young and elderly drivers. In particular, the aim of the work was to: (1) determine if existing standards on displayed letter size are sufficient for the dual task of reading and driving, and (2) define relevant parameters revealing legibility quality through behavioral strategies, in relation to the displayed information and the drivers' visual capacities.
