Thin wire antennas in chiral media

By immersing conducting wire antennas in chiral media, their radiation characteristics can be tailored and enhanced. As the chirality of the media or length of the wire is increased, current along such antennas is characterised by a decaying rather than sinusoidal distribution. This produces reduced sidelobes, decreased main lobe beamwidths, and forbidden zones in the radiation pattern.
