Research on Long-range Detection Technology for Corona Discharge Radiation Signal

In order to obtain the far-field characteristics of corona-discharge-induced radiation signal(CDRS)from ultra high voltage(UHV)transmission lines and air targets in natural environments,we experimentally investigated the radiation,and established a test system using the narrowband test principle.Field experiments indicated that the strength of CDRS increased with the charging voltage,but it decreased with increasing detect distance.There by a test system of corona discharge with high sensitivity and low noise was designed.Using the system,we detected CDRS within 200~300MHz at a distance of about 170mfrom UHV towers in natural environment.It is concluded that the system can be used to detect CDRS within a certain distance from corona,and provide a method for longrange detection of CDRS in natural environments.
