Uncovering the work of post-World War II female pattern designers represented in Glasgow School of Art’s archives through historical enquiry and practice-led investigation to explore the potential of developing new textile products.
This portfolio describes the output Pioneers of Post-War Pattern which comprises a collection of designs and new textile products developed through a collaborative project by staff from GSA’s Centre for Advanced Textiles (CAT), Archives & Collections, and Department of Fashion & Textiles. The collection includes twelve designs produced as cushions and tea-towels under CAT’s Classic Textiles brand. Certain designs have also been printed as panels and others can be printed to order as fabric by the metre. The designs and new interior textile products were developed as part of a project which sought to uncover the design histories of a group of twentieth-century female pattern designers represented in GSA’s Archives & Collections.
